The Hilton, which is on Mauritius’ West Coast in Flic en Flac, is a five-star luxury hotel, built in 1997. It is undergoing complete renovation in 2013 and the client has appointed a team of mainly international consultants to lead the project, with Prodesign as the MEP and green engineering consultants.
As at March 2013, Prodesign has already completed the design, project management and commissioning of a desalination plant at the Resort.
We are currently investigating energy-efficient air-conditioning systems for the hotel, using life-cycle costing methods. We are also analysing the potential for rainwater harvesting, the recycling and reuse of waste water for flushing, and several other green initiatives.
Overall, we are working with the architects and interior designers to provide MEP systems which are economical, energy efficient and yet able to impress guests through their simplicity, functionality and visual appeal.
